Late August last year, pop singer Akinmayokun May D Awodumila got the shock of his life when he learnt he had been dropped from Square records (P-Square record label) due to irreconcilable differences, he screamed blue murder, threatened litigation and countered by launching his own outfit Confam Entertainment; releasing singles and videos.

Today, however, these two camps may have reconciled.

Come May 10, this writer has learnt May D’s highly anticipated album will drop and it features PSquare in a powerful collaboration called You want to know me.

The 20 tracked album titled Chapter one also features Tu face in No Body, K-Switch and Olamide in Kigbe and then Davido in Ur Eyes.

May D will be launching his album on May 26 at a live concert in Abuja with Davido, 2face Idibia, Iyanya, Olamide, Jaywon, Reminisce, K-Switch and many others in performance.

On August 21, Square Records boss Jude Okoye had sent out a statement which reads…

I, JUDE ‘ENGEES’ OKOYE of Square Records Limited and Northside Entertainment Limited hereby announces to the general public that Mr. Akinmayokun Awodumila, otherwise known as MAY D is no longer an artiste under the aforementioned outfits due to irreconcilable differences. We at Northside and Square records wish him all the best in his career and life.

The full details of their reconciliation are not immediately clear, what we do know however, is that May D does not intend going back to Square records. Or should he?

A young victim of domestic violence has told how she was savagely attacked and tattooed with the name of her abuser as part of a worrying new trend.

Latishia Sanchez, 20, from Albuquerque, New Mexico, revealed to CBS that she was just 14 years old when she was raped by five men, including her then boyfriend.

During the assault they branded his name ‘Aaron’ in large script lettering across her neck using a pencil, needle and black ink.

‘I didn’t think that I’d get raped, let alone by people I didn’t know, let alone my boyfriend allowing it,’ she said.

She admitted that she is still struggling to come to terms with the ordeal six years on and just looking at the inking brings back painful memories.

‘It’s hard,’ she explained. ‘Right now our mirrors are covered up because I can’t look at myself.’

Similarly, a 22-year-old from the same neighborhood who wished to retain her anonymity, told NPR that she was pinned down and repeatedly tattooed with a former partner’s name when she tried to break off the relationship.

‘I was with a guy for five years. He was much older. He was really abusive toward me,’ she said.

‘After a while when I tried to finally end it, he kidnapped me, held me hostage and tattooed his name all over my body against my will.’

Target 7 reported that another female from the area who also did not want to be identified for safety reasons, was grabbed off the streets, thrown to the ground and marked by male gang members.

‘We were jumped and basically threatened that if we weren’t going to do what they said, then that would be it, and they took us and tattooed us,’ she said.

But not all victims have been forcibly tattooed.

Elena Galicia found herself in a series of abusive relationships. To placate one ex-boyfriend she had his name ‘Ricky’ inked on her hip.

‘He wanted me to show him that I was his, he was mine. And I wanted to please him. I wanted him to be happy,’ she recalled.

In a bid to put their past behind them all three women are in the the process of getting their tattoos erased by Albuquerque-based tattoo removal specialist, Dawn Maestas.

She has worked with dozens of domestic violence.victims over the years.

Explaining why inking is a common weapon, she said: ‘This is control. This is “you belong to me.”

‘I’ve had victims who have been drugged and tattooed, who have been physically held down and forced tattooed, and I get angry. I get angry because I know what these tattoos mean.’

Ms Maestas, 42, herself was in an abusive relationship for 28 years. Like Ms Galicia she voluntarily marked her ex-partner’s name on the back of her hand. She said that it made him feel ‘that he owned me.

‘This is a person who locks his arms around your legs at night, and you have to ask for permission to use the restroom. So, you know, it’s not just a tattoo.

‘It’s . . . like being in a car accident – every time you pass that intersection you remember the impact,’ she told NPR.

It was one of the first tattoos she removed.

Recounting how she felt when the mark finally disappeared she told CBS: ‘It was this very strange thing that I never thought about – that when this tattoo was gone, how lighthearted I seemed to be.

‘There was just this certain, I dunno, an elevation that took place.’

She now removes tattoos from other victims free of charge.

Ms Sanchez has only had one session so far, but already she says it has made a big difference to the way she feels.

‘I got so happy I started crying and I was looking at it and I was touching it like really? It’s like a magic eraser or something,’ she said.

‘Once it’s not visible anymore, that’s going to make me feel like a whole new person.’

However Ms Maestas she can only remove the physical memories of abuse and the mental scars longer to heal.

‘The tattoos are the one thing I get to take away,’ she added.

It is estimated that one in four women has experienced domestic violence in her lifetime.

Segun Ishola Afolayan and Folorunso Owolabi claimed to be bricklayers but what they were caught doing on Wednesday, April 24 had nothing to do with shovel, headpans or diggers, as they were alleged to have snatched a motorcycle with registration number GNN 134 QB from a commercial rider, Sarafa Jimoh, at Idi Iroko area of Orita Challenge area of Ibadan, pretending to be passengers.

The two suspects reportedly stopped the okada rider at Orita-Challenge on the fateful day, asking him to take them to Idi-Iroko area.

On getting to a lonely zone within the community, however, Ishola and Owolabi allegedly dispossessed the rider of his motorcycle, rained slaps on him and threw him on the hard ground forcefully. They were also alleged to have threatened to shoot him if he dared raise his voice to seek help.

With the belief that they had succeeded with the operation, the gang members zoomed off but their victim was said to have raised the alarm, which attracted other okada riders and other people. The suspects were eventually caught up with at Orita Challenge area where an irate mob reportedly descended on them with different weapons, including iron rods, sticks, stones and other objects.

They would have been given the jungle justice save for the quick intervention of one of the anti-crime squad of the Oyo State Police Command, the Skynet, led by Inspector Usman Dimka, which arrived the scene, rescued and took them to the nearby police station.

Crime Reports learnt that some of the suspects’ victims went to the police station to identify them. Among them was one Akin Folajimi who reportedly identified one of the robbers as a member of the gang which snatched his Toyota Sienna bus with registration number LND 393 AW on December 23, 2012.

Another victim, who did not disclose her name told Crime Report that one of the arrested suspects was among those who came to attack her in her shop on Saturday April 20 along Asipa road, Orita Challenge area. According to her, “I was in my shop at about 7.30p.m. that evening when three men came on a bike. The rider sat on the bike while two of them got down.

“I saw the face of the suspect who called himself Afolayan. He said he wanted to buy a big bottle of Eva water. As I wanted to open the freezer, he drew my attention and as I looked at him, he raised his ankara shirt and showed me a gun tucked in his trousers. He drew the gun and put it to my neck, threatening to shoot if I shouted.

“I was afraid. People were in front of my shop but the generator was on and the people later said that they thought they were customers. They collected my bag containing N58,000, my ATM card, NYSC certificate, took my Blackberry and Nokia phones from where I was charging them and removed my gold earrings. The armed robber hit me on the back with his elbow and I fell down. In the process, some bottles of wine fell and broke.

“They left, shooting as they escaped from the scene. I shouted but they had already gone. Though we trailed them with motorcycles, we did not get them that evening. When they were arrested on Wednesday, I was able to identify Afolayan as a member of the gang that came to my shop.

Folorunso Owolabi, (30), also a bricklayer admitted that he and his partner submitted themselves to the devil to be used. The suspect, whose battered left eye was oozing pus, also claimed that it was his first time of snatching a motorcycle.

The victim, while narrating his experience, told Crime Reports that Afolayan was also one of gang members who had earlier snatched a motorcycle from him about six days before the latest one, but said he didn’t notice when he picked them initially.

According to Jimoh, “when I got to Idi Iroko, they disembarked. As I wanted to ask for the fare from them, one of them slapped me. I started begging them but they picked me and threw me on the ground. I struggled to get up and held one of them but he drew a gun, threatening to kill me. I told him to kill me but they threw me on the ground again and zoomed off. I started running after them shouting thief! thief!!. They were eventually caught by sympathisers.”

When contacted, the police image maker in Oyo State, DSP Olabisi Ilobanafor confirmed the story, saying that the suspects had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, for further investigations.

He didn’t want to have anything to do with me but I blackmailed him into doing it by threatening him that I would lie against him that he came into my bedroom unannounced and uninvited to force himself on me.

It took me almost six months to get him to finally agree to my proposal; as a matter of fact, I forced him the day my husband travelled out of town. He actually cried after he slept with me. Having done it once, it was easy for me to force him subsequently. That affair led to a pregnancy I passed on to my husband. I was happy because through him I became a mother. For that, I will ever be grateful to him but when the child was born, I engineered the sacking of the driver to cover the identity of the child. I didn’t want him suspecting the paternity of the child.

At that point, I was beyond caring about the kind of lie I told; what mattered then was getting him sacked. So I lied to my husband that he stole my jewellery and money I forget inside the car. I said this because I knew it was the only way my husband would get rid of him. Even though deep down it was painful, I had to do it to protect my child from eventual ridicule hence developed the strength to confront him. Beyond protesting his innocence, he told me especially that something would happen later in life to warrant my coming back to beg him for forgiveness.I dismissed him and went about my normal life.

After the birth of my first child and son, the others came in quick succession. I didn’t have to sleep with another man to have them. Deep down I owe my stay in my husband’s house to my first son. Apart from being brilliant, he was the favourite of his father. He graduated at a very early age of 20, finished serving at 21 and was already a member of the board of his father company when things suddenly changed.

It all started one morning when he refused to come out of his room the day he was meant to represent his father at an important meeting with a minister in whose ministry they were pursuing a contract. His father had to attend the meeting, which was a good thing because by afternoon, he was already manifesting severe signs of mental disability.

Since then there is no hospital we haven’t taken him to, including the Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba. There he was on admission for almost a month. All the drugs given him only made him worse until we had no choice but to take him away to a church on the counsel of my elder sister. We eventually ended up in a white garment church where I was told to produce his father if he is to be cured.

According to them, only his father’s prayer would heal him of his strange illness. Needless to say, my marriage is hanging in the balance but that is the least of my problem. Through the help of our former driver’s friend my husband knew, we were able to trace him to his village where he now resides with his family. After explaining the reason we came to him, he laughed and told us to go back the way we came because he will never forgive me for denying him of his son. He said my son is the only male child he has.

He said he won’t do what we want until I agree to sleep with him again as well as compensate him for the lies I told against him. I don’t want anything to happen to my son, please help me

In case this man does not know,he already committed bigamy when he married Lilian.
Mr Akiyesi was still married to Ezinne in portharcourt(they are still married) when he married Lilian and was still married to Ezinne and Lilian when he tried to marry Uloma.

PS—-Concerned Friends of Ezinne say that Llian knew Solomon was married when she married him and Ezinne kept sending warnings to lilian but all fell on deaf ears.they say Ezinne knew the day her husband was marrying Lilian but she did nothing about it but called on God to intervene………..Talk about prayers being answered!

Female inmates at the Light of Hope Orphanage describe how the owner of the orphanage allegedly raped them repeatedly. Eniola Akinkuotu and Tope Omogbolagun report

From the outside, the Light of Hope Orphanage in Akute area of Ogun State looks like every other orphange.

The facility which was founded in 1996 by Mr. Olatayo Atunde receives donations from multinational companies, non-governmental organisations, and other concerned members of the public. The orphanage, also has a nursery and primary school within the premises.

However, recent sexual allegations by some of the female inmates seem to have shattered the positive image the orphanage once enjoyed.

It all started when two young girls from the home told their secondary school teacher that they were raped by Atunde, who runs the facility.

One of the orphans 14-year-old Atinuke (not real name) said Atunde, popularly referred to as, daddy, by the inmates, slept with her and many other girls at the orphanage.

Atinuke, who is now in custody of an NGO, Project Alert on Violence Against Women, said she lost her virginity to Atunde at the age of 10 and has lost count of the number of times he has had sex with her.

She said, “Daddy started sleeping with me when I was 10. I have two blood brothers at the orphanage who I reported to but they have not been able to do anything about it. On one occasion, when he was sleeping with me, I ran into another room but he chased me and warned me never to run away from him again.

“I also reported the matter to the orphanage administrator, Aunty Hannah, and she said she would address the matter but daddy continued to rape me. Daddy usually raped us around 2am in his room. His wife does not always sleep in his room. She sleeps at the crèche where the younger orphans are staying.”

Atunde was also alleged to have sacked one of the employees at the orphanage that dared to challenge him. Another orphan, Salewa (not real name), said that she was barely 12 when Atunde started having sexual relations with her.

She said she had a sister at the orphanage who was in the university. She added that she had caught Atunde having sex with another orphan.

“Daddy has been having sex with at least 10 of us. We are mostly between the ages of 8 and 14. I reported to Aunty Hannah and when she challenged daddy, he laid a curse on me,” she said.

The PUNCH had reported that at the instance of Project Alert, the police at Zone 2 Command had begun investigations into the matter and had arrested Atunde, who was later released on bail.

Our correspondent, who visited the orphanage at No 2, Tunde Senbanjo Street, Akute, observed that the orphanage was deserted and the gate was locked. Neighbours said that Atunde had relocated some orphans to different locations.

A resident, who is an employee of the orphanage said, “After Atunde’s release, he hired some trucks to move the orphans to different locations so that if the state government shuts down the orphanage, he would still be able to operate directly or through a representative.

“Atunde receives donations from banks, multinationals, churches and other members of the public and the smartest thing for him to do right now, is to relocate the children and open another orphanage in a different name if possible, he said.

“Most of the girls were relocated to another property within the area while others were taken to the Shangisha area of Lagos State. The police should not have granted him a bail.”

The Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs said the orphanage was not properly registered.

The Director, Social Welfare Services, Olumide Sotunbo, said although Atunde claimed that the orphanage was founded in 1996, the ministry only got to know about the home last year.

Sotunbo said the institution could not be described as an orphanage because orphanages were meant for orphans, but that investigations showed that many of the children had parents.

He said, “In 2012, Atunde wrote us that he wanted to register his orphanage and in August, we gave him the requirements and told him if he could meet them in six months, we would approve the orphanage. Most times, when people come to us saying they want to register an orphanage, we try not to be too stern because if we do that, they may change location and you might not be able to contact them again.

“On March 14, 2013, we went to inspect 14 orphanages and Hope Orphanage was the only one whose records were not intact. Atunde claimed some of the orphans were brought to him by churches and some of them had lost their mothers at childbirth but they have fathers. We learnt that some of the orphans have parents that gave them to Atunde willingly for unknown reasons and he accepted them. This is not how to run an orphanage.

“We then told him to go and get a police report stating this and we gave him three weeks to do this. It was while we were waiting for this that the allegation of sexual assault came up.”

The Director, Child Development at the ministry, Salimotu Otun, said the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, had shown interest in the case.

Director, Project Alert on Dr. Josephine Effa-Chukwuma, also said the matter would be pursued to a logical conclusion.

Effa-Chukwuma, who stated that cases of rape had increased drastically in recent times, said the two girls had suffered psychological trauma and had been receiving daily counselling.

She berated the police for the manner with which it had carried out its investigations.

“We were told that there are many other girls that have been defiled by Atunde and yet the police released him and allowed him to continue to run the place. That orphanage needs to be shut down,” she said.

Atunde could not be reached on phone for his comments as it was switched off. However, the orphanage administrator, Hannah Atunde, who is Atunde’s daughter, said the allegations were baseless. She blamed Project Alert for initiating moves that would bring woes on the home.

Hannah said the children had not been relocated and that the home still operates normally.

She said, “We were not aware of the allegation before daddy was arrested. After he was interrogated and released by the police, we tried to question the girls but Project Alert people took them away.

“We believe that it is Project Alert that is spearheading this and hopefully, the truth shall come out. The orphanage is still being run and everything is going smoothly. I don’t believe any child was raped.”

Our correspondent learnt that the girls had been taken to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for medical examination. Result of the tests carried out showed that the vaginal hymens of the girls were no longer intact and that the victims have Pelvic Inflammatory Disease which requires urgent treatment.

Effa-Chukwuma said since it had been established that the two girls were brought to the orphanage at the age of two, the orphanage must explain how they lost their virginity.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 2, Femi Balogun, confirmed that investigations were ongoing. Balogun however said it was too soon to conclude if Atunde was culpable. Asked why Atunde was released on bail, he said, “The instruction given to us is that suspects should not spend more than 24 hours in detention and that was what we did. We do not have enough evidence to charge him to court yet but investigations are ongoing.”

The victim is only 22 years of Age. She was found hanging naked in a Cuiaba public square in early morning hours  by a couple on a morning exercise jog.

The girl was first raped, then strangled to death and then hanged to simulate suicide. The police speculate that the perpetrator was someone known to the victim. Her family suspects Juliene’s ex boyfriend. The attacker used girl’s jeans as hanging rope.
